As worldliness creeps into the church and the rank of carnal believers swells, if we are not careful, the identity of what we represent as believers may be lost in the mix.
I sometimes cringe at the sameness in attitude, passion, drive and goals between many believers and unbelievers. How come we think, speak, act and live alike? How come the difference in our worldview is getting so blurred?
Many profess Christ in the open but their heart secretly longs for what the world seeks. They see Christianity as a side hustle. Money, power or pleasure; ambition, children or possession is the main thing for them. That is what takes their time, thought and attention.
They know the creed of our faith but do not live by it. Indeed, they know that Christ who gave his life for us while we were yet sinners deserves our love, our life, our all. But their lifestyle isn't powered by this knowledge.
The missing link is revelational knowledge. When you know Christ by revelation, everything changes about you. You lose the ability to envy those who "freely" live for money, power or pleasure- those who live for anything but Christ.
You realize only Christ can possess you without keeping you in bondage. You are truly free to live for Him no matter what else you have or do not have.
You are enraptured by His love, thrilled by His joy, and embrace His peace. You are fulfilled in Him. And you can welcome others to freedom with conviction.
Beloved, may you realize early enough that when you are content with godliness in Christ, you have incomparable great gain.
Happy Sunday.
